How much does acupuncture cost in Toronto?

The average cost for an acupuncture session in Toronto is $150.

Take note that this price can change depending on the type of treatment, the length of the session, and your preferred clinic.

How We Chose

Experience and credentials – We picked clinics with acupuncturists who have more than three years of experience and are certified by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario.
Specialisation – We also prefer those that specialise in various acupuncture techniques, like traditional Chinese medicine, Japanese acupuncture, and Five Element acupuncture.
Availability – We considered whether these clinics are near major roads and public transit stations. We also assessed whether they’re available on most days of the week.
Customer service – We evaluated whether their acupuncturists treat their clients fairly and kindly. We also checked whether they respond to enquiries quickly.
Price fairness – We looked at whether their prices are fair considering their experience, specialisations, availability, and acupuncture packages offered.

Avenue Acupuncture is a clinic that was founded in 2013 by Ryan Longenecker. A certified acupuncturist himself, Ryan can speak both Cantonese and English effectively and has a specialty in traditional Chinese medicine.

What’s interesting is that they can provide Chinese medicine ophthalmology, a new acupuncture style that addresses eye conditions like glaucoma and dry eyes. They can also perform traditional acupuncture and Japanese acupuncture.

Another standout feature of Avenue Acupuncture is their laser acupuncture. It’s a good treatment if you hate needles because it only uses “cold laser” to activate precise points on your body.

However, please take note that they tend to get fully booked quickly due to the high demand for their services. Make sure to book your appointment with them as soon as you can.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Bilingual lead acupuncturist
  • Offers Chinese medicine ophthalmology
  • Can perform laser puncture

Cons

  • Tends to get fully booked quickly
  • Unavailable on weekends

Avenue Acupuncture is the epitome of care and comfort

“Avenue Acupuncture is the epitome of care and comfort. The clinic is a great place of zen and is well designed with your comfort in mind. Ryan and Brendan are absolutely delightful! Ryan is an experienced and knowledgeable individual with a special focus in eye conditions, although he is well versed in all health concerns. Both Ryan and Brendan are dedicated to getting you better. They are able to quickly understand your concerns and develop a treatment plan tailored to you! Ryan’s technique is amazing and it shows how skilled he is as an acupuncturist. Honestly, you won’t find anyone as attentive, passionate, and experienced as these two practitioners! I highly recommend Avenue Acupuncture.”

My sleep improved tremendously

“Brendan is an amazing professional. I was experiencing rosacea flare-ups and decided to have acupuncture sessions to relieve the symptoms. I’ve been seeing Brendan for a couple of weeks now and not only is my face’s redness almost gone, but also my sleep difficulty has been treated, and my sleep improved tremendously. Highly recommended.”

Dr. Vyvyen Le is a highly experienced acupuncturist who has been providing acupuncture services since 2007. She and her team can assist in resolving issues related to stress, chronic pain, and more.

A unique service Dr. Le offers is Acudetox, a specialised form of acupuncture focusing on the ear. It can be effective for those looking to quit smoking or manage other addictions.

Another service worth mentioning is her cosmetic acupuncture, which promises a natural way to reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin. It’s also good that she offers assistance in processing WSIB and MVA claims.

However, one issue I have is that this clinic strictly operates by appointment only. It’s also disappointing that they’re closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Pros

  • 18 years of experience
  • Offers Acudetox
  • Can do cosmetic acupuncture
  • Can assist in processing WSIB and MVA claims

Cons

  • Strictly by appointment only

Excellent service and a lovely team!

“Excellent service and a lovely team! I had been experiencing awful pain in my neck and shoulders this year and decided to try acupuncture. This was my first experience with acupuncture and it was not disappointing. Acusoul is the clinic I went to for my stress problem. They were founded in 2016 by Justin Lee to provide a variety of services, including traditional acupuncture, Japanese acupuncture, and moxibustion.

For my session, I underwent a thorough diagnostic process that ensured my acupuncture went smoothly. I was pleasantly surprised by the food recommendations they provided after my session.

It was totally free, and the meals they recommended have been genuinely helping to improve my mood and stress levels so far.

I also like that they direct-bill insurance providers. This made it easy for me to focus on my treatment without worrying about insurance claims.

However, what I don’t like is their unpunctual staff. I had to wait five minutes beyond my appointment time before I was attended to by their staff.

Pros

  • 8 years of experience
  • Free food recommendations after sessions
  • Can direct-bill insurance companies
  • Offers customised acupuncture sessions for corporate events

Cons

  • Unpunctual staff
  • Inconsistent operating hours

The process was pain free and relaxing

“First time getting acupuncture and was pretty nervous about it but Justin made the experience calm and relaxing. The process was pain free and relaxing and didn’t even feel much. At the end of the visit I was even given a nice cup of tea for relaxing recovery. Will definitely make this my regular go-to spot when I need to.”

For those who are looking to try acupuncture without breaking the bank, check out Complete Balance Neuro Acupuncture & Rehab Clinic. This clinic has more than a decade of experience and provides a diverse range of services.

Aside from traditional acupuncture, they can also provide Zhu Scalp acupuncture. This specialised technique focuses on the scalp to improve brain activity and treat chronic migraines.

Another highlight is their acupuncture and Daoyin packages. Since Daoyin is a form of body exercise that involves deep breathing and mental focus, it can amplify the benefits of acupuncture on your body.

And as I’ve mentioned earlier, it’s quite easy to spend less here thanks to their community acupuncture program. It offers huge discounts for acupuncture performed in a shared room.

Unfortunately, they’re located in Don Valley Village, which is quite far from Toronto’s western suburbs.

Pros

  • More than 10 years of experience
  • Offers Zhu Scalp acupuncture
  • Has acupuncture and Daoyin packages
  • Has a community acupuncture program

Cons

  • Location a bit far from Toronto’s western suburbs

I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and I really love the professionals

“I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and I really love the professionals. I have acupuncture with Royce, naturopath appointments with Dr. Christina, and massage with Anthony, with whom I get better results than many physiotherapy sessions. I also like the convenience of booking my sessions online!”

“Complete Balance Neuro Acupuncture & Rehab Clinic is a hidden gem in the city. A friend recommended Joey to help with my recurring Friday headaches. After a couple of months of treatment, not only have my headaches significantly subsided, but my overall health and energy levels have also improved. I am grateful for Joey’s expertise, skills, and positive attitude in providing top-notch healthcare services.

The clinic is clean, and the entire team is welcoming and helpful. For anyone seeking quality and effective healthcare, I highly recommend giving Complete Balance Health Centre a try.”
