We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

I wanted to find a gift for my girlfriend that would be truly special and meaningful. Jewellery seemed like the perfect choice. It’s classic!

But let’s be honest—I’m no jewellery expert. All the talk about gemstones and diamonds made zero sense to me. Thankfully, the jewellery store I visited had an incredible team who helped me pick and customize a necklace that my girlfriend would surely appreciate.

If you’re also planning to buy jewellery for a special someone or even just for yourself, I have solid recommendations for you!

How much does jewellery cost in Toronto?

In Toronto, the three most popular jewellery pieces are wedding rings, engagement rings, and gold chains. These typically cost around $5,000, $3,500, and $3,100, respectively.
However, keep in mind that prices can vary depending on the type, quality, and brand.

How We Chose

Jewellery selection – We picked jewellery stores that offer a wide variety of styles, metals, gemstones, and designs.
Jewellery quality – We assessed whether their jewellery pieces are of good quality, their suppliers and whether their goods are certified by reputable bodies like the Gemological Institute of America.
Accessibility – We checked whether these stores are near major roads and public transit stations. We also considered whether they’re open on most days of the week.
Customer service – We evaluated whether their staff members always treat their clients kindly and respectfully. We also assessed whether they respond to enquiries quickly.
Price fairness – We looked at whether their prices are fair considering the quality of their jewellery, after-sales services, accessibility, and warranty policies.

Let’s first talk about the store where I bought my girlfriend’s necklace, Made You Look. This place has been a neighbourhood gem since 2001 and has a rich selection of jewellery made with gemstones like sapphire, ruby, and moissanite.

One thing I really like is their custom design services. With 20 talented designers in-store, they can help you create a piece that’s truly unique. The best part is you can meet these designers virtually or in person, making it super convenient to set up an appointment.

The only downside I encountered is that they require a 50% deposit before they start working on your custom jewellery.

Apart from their jewellery and designers, I also appreciate their antique jewellery restoration services. They even have a watch repair service that I took advantage of to fix the priceless watch my dad gave me last year.

Pros

  • Can create custom jewellery
  • Offers virtual appointments with designers
  • Has antique jewellery restoration services
  • Offers watch repair services

Cons

  • Requires 50% deposit for custom jewellery
  • Warranty coverage limited to 6 months only

Made You Look has an amazing selection from a variety of talented artists!

“If you are looking for beautifully made and unique jewelry, Made You Look has an amazing selection from a variety of talented artists! They also have incredible custom services including repairs. I’ve tried a number of places in the city to fix some of my silver pieces, but none have been as well done or reasonably priced as here! Recently I also had the opportunity to work with Peter van Walraven who expertly restored a vintage ring which I thought would be impossible due to the complexity of the setting. But he did it and I am in love with the result. He also made me a brand new custom ring that exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend!”

They have fabulous jewelry

“They have fabulous jewelry. More importantly—their staff is excellent and they treat you like royalty. Had a sentimental bracelet engraved for me and not only did they do a fantastic job, their customer service is top-notch. Thank you, Kate, you have a client for life!”

If you’re on the lookout for ethical jewellery, FTJCo Fine Jewellery is definitely worth checking out. Established in 2006, this Certified B Corporation is known for being one of the first in Canada to use Fairmined-certified gold.

They’re also one of Toronto’s jewellery stores that carry a rich selection of Montana sapphires. These gemstones are sourced with environmental sustainability and fair labour practices in mind, making them a great choice for the eco and ethically conscious.

Aside from their ethically sourced gemstones, I also appreciate that they have a referral program that rewards customers with store credits for bringing in new clients. Plus, they accept cryptocurrency payments, which is good for people who carry such currencies.

However, it’s disappointing to hear that some of their clients encountered rude behaviour from their staff.

Pros

  • Sells Fairmined-certified gold
  • Sells Montana sapphires
  • Has a referral program
  • Accepts cryptocurrency payments

Cons

  • Some rude staff
  • Inconsistent operating hours

I love that they take ethical sourcing and sustainability very seriously

“I love my ring! Working with FTJCo was a breeze, Robin was the absolute best and made the process comprehensive and simple. I love that they take ethical sourcing and sustainability very seriously because it’s allowed me to not only trust that my ring is going to last the ages, but also that it’s sourced from places we don’t need to feel guilty about. I love that my ring is so unique and the craftsmanship blew me away, the ring is perfect. We will definitely be returning to have our wedding bands done and spreading the word.”

I love that the materials are responsibly sourced

“Absolutely gorgeous engagement ring with an oval rose cut diamond and a customized wedding band with pear diamonds that perfectly compliments the engagement ring. I love that the materials are responsibly sourced. Wonderful experience with the FTJCo team!”

Established in 1945, Edwards and Davies Jewellers is one of Toronto’s oldest jewellery stores. They offer a diverse range of engagement rings, watches, wedding bands, and more.

Interestingly, their collection includes beautifully crafted religious jewellery depicting Christian figures like Jesus and the crucifix.

One of the best things about this store is it offers free ring sizing, inspections, and cleaning services to ensure your jewellery remains in pristine condition.

Additionally, they provide jewellery and watch repair services and can even redesign pieces! However, it’s worth noting that their repair services come at a premium, so you might want to explore other options if budget is a concern.

Pros

  • Offers free ring sizing, inspections, and cleaning
  • Has jewellery and watch repair services
  • Can redesign old jewellery pieces
  • Has religious jewellery pieces

Cons

  • Above-average repair prices
  • Location a bit far from Toronto’s western suburbs

Best jewelry store in Toronto

“Best jewelry store in Toronto. We got a custom engagement ring and wedding bands with them. Laura and Adam are fantastic to work with from start to finish. Their prices are also very reasonable, better than the popular online marketplaces. I sent a few friends here now and everyone has had an amazing experience.”

It is 100% worth your time to go here

“My now fiance found this amazing family owned business. They gave him amazing advice and had fair prices. We are going back for our wedding rings. It is 100% worth your time to go here and have a conversation. They will not steer you wrong.”

Another long-time jewellery store I discovered recently is Serli & Siroan Jewelry. Established in 1979, this family-owned store has made a name for itself with an impressive selection of over 17,000 GL and GIA-certified diamonds.

These stones are used in many of their jewellery pieces, like engagement and wedding rings. Plus, if you have something specific in mind, they offer custom jewellery too.

One of the nice touches they provide is a complimentary gift box with every purchase. It includes their signature burgundy ribbon, making your gift look even more special.

It’s also worth mentioning that they offer jewellery insurance through Jewelers Mutual, so you can protect your precious pieces from loss, theft, or damage.

However, I must say I’m not a fan of their return policy. They don’t issue refunds and can only provide exchanges within 14 days of purchase.

Pros

  • Wide range of GIA-certified diamonds
  • Can create custom jewellery pieces
  • Offers free gift box with every purchase
  • Offers jewellery insurance

Cons

  • Doesn’t issue refunds
  • Can only provide exchanges within 14 days

It was such an enjoyable experience

“Could not be happier! Serli and Siroan is a family run business that treats you like family. Daniel and his mom helped my fiance and I design the most perfect ring for our taste from start to finish. They listened to us and guided us, without being forceful. It was such an enjoyable experience. Above all they respected our time-line and had the ring ready when needed. We would recommend them for all your engagement ring needs.”

Damasci started in 2002, thanks to Maher and Osama Hafez, who brought their family’s jewellery-making skills from Damascus to Toronto. They make beautiful diamond jewellery and offer both earth-mined and lab-grown diamonds.

One thing I like about them is their wide selection of jewellery. Whether you need an engagement ring, a wedding ring, or diamond earrings, they’ve got plenty of options. You can buy something ready-made or have a piece custom-designed to add your personal touch.

It’s also nice that they have a lifetime warranty on all their jewellery. Plus, they have a money-back guarantee so you can easily get your money back if you’re not completely happy with your purchase.

And if you’re worried about paying for your jewellery, Damasci has zero-interest financing options.

One thing to note is that they don’t accept cash payments. They only take debit cards, NFC mobile payments, and credit cards.

Pros

  • Can create custom jewellery pieces
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Offers zero-interest payment options
  • Has a money-back guarantee

Cons

  • Doesn’t accept cash
  • Some dismissive staff

Damasci was by far the best jeweller we found!

“My (now) fiance and I visited several jewellers in Toronto before deciding where we were going to design my engagement ring. Damasci was by far the best jeweller we found! They helped us design my dream engagement ring and it turned out absolutely perfect. Sam and Marko were a pleasure to work with, both so knowledgeable on the subject. Their craftsmanship is like no other. We look forward to working with Marko and Sam again when we return to design our wedding bands.”

They gave us exactly what we wanted

“The most beautiful ring that I can ask for! Sam made my engagement ring shopping the best experience. He took the time to explain everything to me and my boyfriend and went into detail about the diamonds. He spent over three hours in our consultation perfecting what we wanted and was so patient with us. His customization skills are excellent. I am so grateful I went with Damasci because they gave us exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend!!”
