For a long time, I’d been considering going vegan for health reasons, but there was always one roadblock: I was constantly craving sweet treats, and I wasn’t sure if vegan desserts hit the same!
Eventually, I decided to bite the bullet and try a couple of vegan desserts—and I was pleasantly surprised. The first vegan treat I got was this chocolate cake from a spot my vegan friend recommended to me, and though it wasn’t as sweet as the non-vegan version, it was still dense and indulgent.
Since then, I’ve been checking out as many vegan dessert spots as possible. These are the ones that have received my stamp of approval.
Bloomer’s

Address: 873 Bloor St W
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—8 am to 8 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—9 am to 8 pm
Contact Number: +14165510532
I used to think that I wasn’t much of a donut person, but some top-notch donuts in Toronto, especially Bloomer’s, changed my mind. The donuts in this bakery are always so fluffy, and the menu has over 50 rotating flavors available!
I’m a big fan of the Ferrero Rocher donut because not only is it topped with a rich, chocolate ganache and chopped nuts, but it’s also filled with a delectable chocolate cream filling. One bite of this donut is enough to cure my sweet cravings!
Pro Tip: This bakery offers catering services for special events. |
MACHINO DONUTS
– From: machinodonuts
Address: 1556 Bloor St W
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Sunday—9 am to 8 pm
Another great spot you can check if you love donuts is MACHINO DONUTS. Just like Bloomer’s, this shop serves freshly made donuts with an impressive lineup of flavors!
I absolutely adore the Dubai Chocolate Kunafa Donut, which is inspired by the trendy Dubai chocolate (yes, I’m chronically online). The donut is filled with a thick and nutty pistachio cream filling, dipped in a chocolate ganache, and then topped with toasted kataifi and chopped pistachio.
That’s the kind of donut that will haunt me until the next time I eat it!
Pro Tips: You can book this bakery as your caterer for your event. If you have any questions, you can send them to [email protected]. You can also order custom donuts here. These are perfect for special events or as a gift for a loved one. |
Vegan Danish Bakery
– From: vegandanishbakerytoronto
Address: 1312 Queen St W
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—12 pm to 6 pm
Contact Number: +16473521312
My friend touted the Vegan Danish Bakery as one of the best local spots for vegan brunch, but it’s also perfect to get your daily dose of sweets.
There are many options to choose from. If I just need a light nibble, I go with the butter tarts; I love how crumbly and, well, buttery they are.
If I want something more substantial, their cheesecake is my go-to order. It’s dense and sweet, with a slight hint of tanginess. This cake is surprisingly hefty, too; a couple of forkfuls in, and I’m already full.
Pro Tip: You can book a custom order for cakes. Check this page for more information. |
Tori’s Bakeshop

Address: 2188 Queen St E
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—8 am to 5 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—9 am to 5 pm
Contact Number: +16473506500
Tori’s Bakeshop has an impressive array of baked goods, but my favorites have to be their cupcakes.
My go-to flavor is the chocolate cream cheese cupcake. The chocolate cake base’s sweetness is complemented by the cream cheese frosting’s slight tanginess.
During the holiday season, you can even get a special flavor to celebrate Christmas: a festive peppermint flavor!
Pro Tip: If you order from the website and the total exceeds C$80, you can enjoy free delivery. |

- Wednesday to Friday—11 am to 10 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +16477488680
If you love cinnamon rolls, then you have to check out Cinnaholic. The best part about this shop is that you can actually “create” your own cinnamon rolls—meaning, you can choose what toppings and sauces you want on them!
I’m pretty basic, so I always go with an all-chocolate cinnamon roll. Sometimes, if I’m feeling slightly “creative,” I add strawberries on top (dipped in chocolate too, of course).
Pro Tip: You can book them to cater for a special event. If you’re interested, send an email to [email protected]. |

Address: 1448 Dundas St W
Operating Hours:
- Monday, Wednesday to Friday—3 pm to 9 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—1 pm to 9 pm
Contact Number: +14166720479
For me, ice cream is a year-round treat. Yes, even during the winter, I crave it. So, you can imagine how happy I was when I learned that there’s a plant-based ice cream spot in Toronto: Honey’s Ice Cream.
My current obsession is their Earl Grey ice cream. This one has hints of black tea, so you can taste a bit of earthiness every lick. It also has a zing of citrus, thanks to the bergamot used. Since it’s not too sweet, I can devour a pint in one sitting (I probably shouldn’t, though).
Pro Tip: Give a gift card from this shop to a fellow ice cream lover. |
Bunner’s Bakeshop
– From: bunner
Address: 244 Augusta Ave
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +16473502975
Not only is Bunner’s Bakeshop vegan, but it’s also gluten-free! So, people who are sensitive to gluten are welcome to indulge in sweet treats here.
The Josephine Louise is one of my favorite things to get here. It’s essentially a red velvet sandwich with a thick layer of fluffy vanilla frosting in between. Then, to top it all off, the whole thing is coated with a smooth layer of chocolate ganache.
It’s decadent and also pretty big enough to fill my empty stomach!
Pro Tip: Having a wedding soon? You can order your wedding cake here. |

– From: almondbutterflycafe

Almond Butterfly and Bakeshop is one of my favorite places to go when I want a sweet treat but also in a hurry to get somewhere. The service here is pretty fast, so I can chomp down my food and get out the door in under 30 minutes!
I’m obsessed with the chocolate peanut butter cupcakes; it tastes like Reese’s Pieces, my favorite chocolate candy, so of course, I’ll love it. The raspberry oat squares are also great snacks—bite-sized, crunchy, and fruity!
Pro Tips: The bakeshop has a grocery section where you can stock up on your vegan pantry items. If you want to order a wedding cake here, send an email to [email protected]. |
Sweets from the Earth
– From: sftebakery
Address: 101 Canarctic Dr, North York
Operating Hours: Sunday to Friday—9 am to 5:30 pm
Contact Number: +16474362004
Sweets from the Earth started as a vegan bakery, but over time, it’s expanded to accommodate other dietary lifestyles. From what I know, this bakery is also dairy-, egg-, sesame-, peanut-, nut-, wheat-, sugar-, and gluten-free!
I love getting the sugar-free brownies. These brownies are just as fudgy as the original versions, and they also come with dark chocolate chunks for even more chocolatey goodness. Every time I devour a pack of these, I don’t feel an ounce of guilt at all.

Kensington Natural Bakery
– From: knb_1980
Address: 460 Bloor St W
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 7:45 pm
Contact Number: +14165341294
My friend describes Kensington Natural Bakery as a “healthy haven,” and I couldn’t agree more. After all, this bakery serves not just vegan goods but also gluten-free and keto-friendly options!
I’m a fan of the pies served here. I always order the vegan pumpkin pie even if it’s not fall yet. The filling is so silky smooth and not too sweet, and the crust is golden and crispy. I usually put a dollop of whipped cream on top for an extra burst of sweetness!
Pro Tip: This place only accepts cash, so keep that in mind before coming here. |
Bad Attitude Bread
– From: badattitudebread
Address: 816 Dundas St W
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—8:30 am to 6 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—9 am to 5 pm

I discovered Bad Attitude Bread by accident; I was just walking along Dundas Street when I came across the shop’s sign, thought the name was interesting, and went inside. When I tried their treats for the first time, I knew I’d be coming back.
I can’t stop thinking about their raspberry cardamom bun. It’s essentially a cinnamon bun, but instead of cinnamon sugar, they’re using raspberry jam with sugar and cardamom. As if that’s not enough, a raspberry sauce is poured all over the bun!
It’s incredibly indulgent, and I love the zing of tart fruitiness that comes right after the sugary punch.

– From: cockadoodledoobakeshop
Address: 830 Bloor St W
Operating Hours: Wednesday and Saturday—12 pm to 5 pm
Contact Number: +16477738783
Cock-A-Doodle-Doo is one of Toronto’s gluten-free bakeries, but it also has many vegan options.
I personally like the vegan breads here, especially the sourdough. It’s light and fluffy and has a lovely, subtle tanginess. It tastes even better when I butter and toast it, which is why it’s my go-to dish for breakfast.
Aside from the bread, I also love the blueberry and lemon scones. They’re tart and sweet, making them perfect for afternoon tea.
Pro Tip: This bakery carries a variety of frozen products as well, such as dumplings, tamales, vegan ice creams, and wontons. You might want to purchase some just in case you want a snack in the middle of the night. |
Caked Coffee

Operating Hours:
- Sunday and Monday—10 am to 6 pm
- Tuesday to Friday—9 am to 7 pm
- Saturday—10 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +16476412033
Caked Coffee is such a charming and cute cafe—that’s actually the main reason I checked it out in the first place. But its array of vegan desserts is what convinced me to keep coming back.
I love the matcha chocolate chip cake because its sweetness is mild and subtle, and it also tastes a little bit like green tea. If I’m craving something sweeter, I usually get the vanilla Biscoff cake. The cookie butter flavor is intense, but I can’t get enough of it.

Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday—10 am to 6 pm
- Friday—9:30 am to 6 pm
- Saturday—9:30 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +14162367585
Technically, Wanda’s Pie in the Sky isn’t exclusively a vegan spot, but they do offer vegan options, so I have to mention it. This is one of my favorite places to go when I visit Kensington Market because they just serve the best pies.
My go-to order is the Very Berry Pie, which, as the name suggests, is very berry. The filling consists of strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, and cherries, so every bite is intensely fruity, tangy, and sweet. It’s a great pie to eat during summertime.
Pro Tip: There are many flavors available every day, but to ensure you’ll get the one you want, I recommend you pre-order instead. Email them ([email protected]) about your preferred flavor, let them know you want it vegan and when you’ll pick it up from the store. |
